Students are covering grade 6 curricular content for French and English writing by completing special quests.

 This week's goal is:

Revise one’s own work by referring to the spelling and grammar rules learned, with a focus on using capital letters accurately. This quest is a "quick win." Students were given a story in French with 30 capitalization mistakes. They edited the story's mistakes, handed in their work, and received a "badge" (you can ask them about it. It smells like cotton candy). Most students have their first "cotton candy" badge. They usually have until Fridays to complete their work. If students are not done their work they'll have it for homework. Here it is below, in case needed.

This work was given after I taught a lesson on capitalization rules. You can ask them about the flashlight I was shining in class.

Today we talked about prime numbers and composite numbers. This is a challenge we encountered. Students can try to solve at home. No prizes. Just a high five (and air)!

Check-in quiz 🐥🐓🐔🐣

In class, I do a check-in quiz occasionally for math. It does not go towards our report card grade. Rather, it is for me to monitor my teaching, how students are doing, and who needs extra help. I asked students to take home their quiz to show you. This is partly for me to communicate also with you at home.

We also talked about how making mistakes is ok, and this helps our brains grow!

We will do a couple more similar quizzes this week. Then we will do a similar test next Thursday.

I told students they’re welcome to stay after school to get help every day except for Tuesday. I have snacks in a box and I’m happy to help. Sorry that this week‘s quiz is so "unsightly." The photocopier was not working, and I wrote it by hand and then the photocopier made it in a very large paper format!
